Not everyone has the skills, the time, or even the inclination to manage their own server. Whether you have a server installed in one of our racks, or you are using one of our virtual servers, you can unload as many administrative tasks onto us as you like, and in whatever way you like. Typically, a customer might want to deal with day-to-day matters themselves, but might ask us to take care of software installation and security maintenance. Some will need us for little more than reassurance that whatever they do to their server, we will be around to set it right again if they manage to break something. Others might want us to assume total responsibility for the server and its operation.
When we say total responsibility, by the way, we mean total responsibility. We will apply software and security updates, monitor system logs, keep an eye on the hardware, monitor network traffic for unusual behaviour, and more. We can even manage such tasks as configuring mailboxes and users on the system if required, and set up and configure databases, web and mail servers and any other aspect of the system. All you need to do is ask, and we will act upon your requests, always within an agreed timescale.
There are no fixed prices for these services - our charges will depend upon your requirements and your server. As a guideline, however, you could expect to pay around £40 a month to have us assume total responsibility for your dedicated server, or £30 for a virtual server.
For other levels of service we will naturally charge less - for example security management, or system-level management only, will typically be charged at £20 and £15 a month respectively.
